An Interview with Christie

What medium are you working in currently and why have you chosen it?
The medium I work in is watercolor both transparent and sometimes opaque. Then if these do not get the results I hopeing for then I may continue with acrylic and then water based oils. I like the uncertainty's of how watercolor effects will bring me into a direction. It is always challenge to achieve a certain glow to the pieces.
Is there a theme or editorial direction for your current work?
My newer work evolve around Koi Ponds . I'm fasniated with how the light abstraction interwines with the colors inside and out of the ponds. Theme wise these works still are about my garden as if you a getting a private viewing inside my narrative world., real or imagined
Where do you work most of the time?
Every where inside my house. Mainly in the studio and in the winter the dineing table near the firebox.
What is your favorite piece in your upcoming show - and why?
It is the last Koi painting in the series. I have enjoyed the manner in which the paints direction forced me to completely break free of my preconceived conceptualism.
How often do you work on your art?
I am obsessed!

Joseph Raffael, Monet, Turner, Edward L. Higgins, Jearld Silva
