Artist's Statement

I was born on October 5th, 1976, in Goiânia-GO in Brazil, where I live. I have been drawing since childhood, but began my artistic training at 14 in 1990. In 1992 I had my first contact with painting techniques and since then I have never stopped painting. I have a Bachelor in visual arts with habilitation in graphic design and what I like most is to draw and paint.

The art I create has to do with the expressiveness of color combinations, with the impact of the contrasts of light and dark, sometimes in abstract compositions sometimes using representational language. I am not affiliated to any aesthetic trend but have admiration for expressionism. Currently I am working with water-based techniques (watercolors and acrylics), drawing, digital painting and oil painting. I like to paint what surrounds me: objects, landscapes and animals. But also I like to explore my imagination, create compositions with the human figure and children characters. I try not to get too attached to perfectionism realistic; and often add color and lines where they don't exist.
For me paint is like being involved in something that will last forever. And making art is a form of liberation, of refuge, it is when I shout to the world that I exist and express what I feel. No matter the object or subject that I paint, this feeling is there. And if I can pass clearly a bit of strength and personality, it will be worth it.
