Mary L. Severson is an artist who has been drawing and painting all her life.
A native of Iowa, Mary attended Iowa State University where she earned a B.S. Degree in Applied Art and has been exhibiting her painting and drawing ever since. Having worked as a graphic artist for twenty one years, her art now is her own vision.
Since moving to California, Mary’s work has been seen all over the Northern California and Southern Oregon. She exhibited with the North Valley Art League on first arriving in the Redding area. Then became a member of the Highland Art Center in Weaverville, California where she has exhibited her art for over twenty years. Many awards were won over the years from the Highland’s juried show including a first place in painting, more than one second, third and honorable mentions.
Galleries including the 5 Windows Gallery in Weaverville and now the Red Bluff Art Gallery, in Red Bluff, California have shown Severson work. Also galleries in Klamath Falls, OR.; Alturas, CA and Old Shasta, CA have shown Mary’s work.
Art fairs around the area have been a venue for Severson art, including the Almanor Art Fair in Chester, and art fairs in Sisters, Oregon; Lodi, CA.; Shasta Lake, CA; and Red Bluff, CA.
Mary says, “ My art is a way to communicate my love of nature, be it the wild or more familiar, with my viewer.”
