Artist's Statement:

I grew up in the small town of Ferryville, Wisconsin along the Mississippi River. My interest in photography started at a young age and the family pet became my favorite subject. Throughout high school I enjoyed entering photo competitions at the local fair. After graduation from high school, I attended Winona State University in Winona, Minnesota, where I obtained a Bachelors Degree in Biology. After graduation I moved to California for a job with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service and there I pursued my passion of photography by completing a Certificate program at Butte College in Oroville.

Throughout my biological and photographic career, I have spent a significant amount of time photographing in California, Oregon, Colorado and Utah. My passion for hiking, nature, wildlife, biology and photography has taken me to some the most beautiful parts of the country. These magnificent places and animals have touched my heart and soul. Through my photography I hope to inspire people to preserve and protect the natural wonders of the world.

I am currently working as a Biological Science Technician with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service and work on photography in my free time. I have dedicated my life to making a difference in this world, whether it is to help save a species of fish or capture natural beauty of the landscape and animals surrounding me.

Many of the wildlife pictures on this website were taken at various zoos and aquariums. However, the Elk, Mountain Goats, tide pool invertebrates, seals, seagulls and the marmot have been photographed in their natural habitat.
