First Friday, October 7 - Silk-screen work and socio-political cartoons by local teen

Silk-screen, known in art circles as “serigraphy”, is a method of printmaking used in fine art. Silk-screen, until recently, has also been the most important method of printing things like t-shirts, flags, and many fabric items.
“The art of silk-screen is disappearing,” according to artist Phil Dynan, “both fabric and paper prints are now being done on the new generation of ink-jet printers. This exhibit shows how the original silk-screening was done, with examples of both paper and fabric prints.”
Dynan’s work will be on display and shows a wide variety of art, from Marathon Posters, to fine art prints. His work has been featured in Print Magazine, as well as in the book “The Best of Screen Printing Design” (Rockport).
“I’ve been fortunate in that my work has had wide distribution as prints and other products. I’ve been invited to do demonstrations at the California State Fair, as well as in other countries in Europe and South America.” Dynan says.
One of the posters in the exhibit was done for the Redding Marathon. Both Anastasia Nelson and Dynan worked on the art. Nelson hand cut the stencils used in the making of the silk-screen print, while Dynan did the printing by hand.
Also featured in the new art exhibit is work by Red Bluff artist, Nathan Espinoza. Nate is a very funny and very talented local high school student. His work is featured in the Window Gallery section.

Kseniya Beliaeva, who lives in Belarus, will also have new work in the show in the Main Hall. Her beguiling images, usually formed with a fine pointillism style, have been featured in the gallery for the past three years. Her show contains brand new original work.
This is a First Friday Art Night event, featuring art every first Friday of every month. The Montana Morrison Gallery also participates, so visitors have both local galleries to visit on the same night.
Friday, October 7th is the opening night of the exhibition. An Artists’ Reception will be held from 5 PM until 8 PM that evening. Dress is casual and everyone is welcome. More information by phoning 529-1332. Or online www.RedBluffArtGallery.com
